Shoji-no-Osugi

Shoji-no-Osugi[Shojinooosugi]
It is a giant sugi tree in the western corner of the precincts of Suwa Shrine, located in the village of Imura on the north shore of Lake Shoji. The circumference of the root is 12.6 meters, and the circumference of the trunk 1.5 meters from the root is 10.2 meters. The height of the tree is as magnificent as 40 meters.
It is the second thickest in the prefecture after 11.3 meters of Yushima Sanno Shrine Daisugi in Hayakawa Town.
It is one of the largest giant trees of Sugi in Japan.

Access

From Kawaguchiko Station, get off at Narusawa / Lake Shoji / Lake Motosu Tour Bus, or take the local bus bound for Shin-Fuji Station / Lake Motosu / Shimo Onsenkyo, and walk for 2 minutes.
