Kai's Katsuyama Yabusame Festival
What is Yabusame Festival?
It is a Shinto ritual of Fuji Omuro Asama Shrine that announces spring to the Katsuyama district.
Boasting a history of over ９００ years, it will be held at Shikkogo Park.
It is said that Kai Genji's ancestor, Yoshimitsu Shinra Saburo, celebrated the victory of "Gosannen War" (1083-1087) and dedicated it to the shrine.
Members of the Japan Equestrian Archery Association, which inherits the Yabusame Yabusame, wear traditional costumes with direct armor and shoot small targets from the running horses.The magnificent sight just like a Sengoku picture scroll is impressive.
