Yama-jinja Shrine Main Shrine

Yama-jinja Shrine Main Shrine[Yamajin Jahonden]
The mountain shrine is located on the eastern shore of Lake Motosu, at the southern end of the village in the Motosu area.It is a shrine enshrined in the border area between Kai and Suruga, which has been located along the historical road "Middle Road Return" that connects the Kofu Basin and Suruga Bay in the shortest distance from ancient times.
The "Yama Shrine Main Hall" is a building of Irimoya-zukuri Hiwadabuki.
The current main shrine was rebuilt in Houreki 5 (1755) and restored in Tenmei 2 (1782). It retains the 18th century architecture of the Edo period, and is a valuable cultural property that symbolizes the depth of the history of the Motosu area and creates a historic landscape along with the precincts.
Every year on May 5, the "Motosu Kuge Procession", which is a typical festival in the Motosu area, departs from the mountain shrine, and a portable shrine patrolls the area led by an elegant procession like a historical picture scroll.
